[..YouTube..] This is actually a documentry from 1998 but I went back in time and stopped this version of New York from happening. Don’t thank me, it was the least I could do.
[..YouTube..] Great movie. This is definitely in my top 5 favorites of John Carpenter’s films. My top 5 would be: Halloween, The Thing, The Fog, Escape from New York, and Prince of Darkness….in that order.
[..YouTube..] If they remake this with that dude from 300 or anybody, i just might not see another movie ever again! I heard that they want to remake this and the thing, why WHY!!! Stop remaking Capenter movies!
[..YouTube..] Nice. It’s a good trailer for it’s age, nicely edited and all that, but they kinda missed the key plot point that it’s the US President he’s gotta rescue.
[..YouTube..] Great movie, love the music.I just read somewhere that Jamie Lee Curtis does the narration at the beginning.Never realised but obvious now, duh!!

[..YouTube..] they change the size of the snake? and these were intended to be “B” movies only liked this one the other one was alright. but not as cool it more like a big joke not in a bad way though!
[..YouTube..] if any of you dont like escape from new york or escpae from L.A. then you SUCKseriously those have to be on my top ten list for oldie movies.yeah, rock on kurt russel!
[..YouTube..] I’m checkin’ up wikipedia and I type Cloverfield and from what I read it seems Escape from New York is related or inspired Cloverfield which is interesting. But still this movie is awesome.
[..YouTube..] I must have missed it… I never knew that back in 97, New York was a walled maximum security prison….. wow, where the fuck have i been all these years….. lol, i’m j/k. I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! And escape from L.A., but i liked this one better
[..YouTube..] I think it’s funny when Snake shoots a circle in the wall, then jumps through what is clearly cardboard. Really though, this is one of the first films I remember seeing as a Kid. Great stuff.
[..YouTube..] I remember watching this movie as a kid and thinking it was sooo cool. I thought New York must be some kinda f’n hell hole or somethin, lol . . .
[..YouTube..] Thanks for the comments. EFNY is an awesome sci-fi action thriller and very influential. I think it’s awesome and love the special edition DVD. Keep up the comments and enjoy
[..YouTube..] Bad ass soundtrack and bad ass movie …. never make ‘em like this again and love my 80’s!! Only two years earlier “The Warriors” came out but this was icing on the cake for me!! Thanks!
[..YouTube..] According to a March 12, 2007 article in Variety magazine, Gerard Butler was close to signing a deal where he would play Snake Plissken in a remake of Carpenter’s movie.[4] Neal Moritz was to produce and Ken Nolan was to write the screenplay which would combine an original story for Plissken with the story from the 1981 movie, although Carpenter has hinted that the film might be a prequel.[24]
[..YouTube..] Probably John Carpenter’s best film. One of Kurt Rusesell’s best characters potrayed on the screen. Crapenter’s score to this film is amazing. The sequel has only got on good thing about it: the score. A remake of this film wouldn’t really work. Stop remaking classic films from the 70’s and the 80’s.

[..YouTube..] I just saw this movie and it was really interesting, proberbly one of the best dystopian future movies i’ve seen as well as one of the best anti-heroes i’ve seen on film that is “snake plissken”..acutally i start to wonder if the makers of The Game METAL GEAR copied the character of plissken because there are so many connections between snake plissken and solid snake!
[..YouTube..] -Le président a été enlevé.-Président de quoi?-Je deteste qu’on se foute de moi. This is in the french text, i dont know if this is the same thing in the original dialog
[..YouTube..] Yeah, actually Kojima has already stated a while back that Solid Snake was based off of Snake Plissken(apparently Escape from NY was one of his favorite films or something).
[..YouTube..] This movie’s a classic and was made on a $5 million dollar budget. I heard New Line Cinema wants to do a big budget remake which is completely wrong. Kurt Russell was and is the ultimate Snake Plissken even though L.A. was a bad escape.
[..YouTube..] deff a classic but why not welcome a remake… they will only make asses of themselves so let em have at it… there will only ever be one snake plissken
[..YouTube..] I love this film. it is a true gem.the remake will suck. the thing that sucks the most is that there is a whole generation of kids that will think the remake is the original.

Like mgsfan91 said, and I quote: “Hideo Kojima (creator of MG) got the inspiration of Metal Gear, thx to this great movie.” I mean, I’ve been with MGS since part 1-3, and the upcoming 4. I’ve always wanted to watched this! I saw half of it on TV once… I wanna see the whole thing!
(Oh. And marcfigu? mgsfan91 is not the only MGS fan here. I love the series. Please give respect to us MGS fans…) Thank you very much. I appriciate it.

[..YouTube..] No, Kojima based Solid Snake on Snake Plisskin, Escape From New York didn’t inspire him to make the MG series. A funny aside, at first I thought it was out of place to see the Twin Towers still standing in the movie but since this takes place in 1997, they would (technically) still be intact. Carpenter is a genius!

[..YouTube..] 1997? ha ha ha Anyway, it’s funny how those 1970s and 1980’s futuristic films are becoming reality in 2008. The American economy on the brink of collapse, people fighting and stealing gasoline and oil. The US running a police state of the world. Though it looks more like a Mad Max world than this movie. But still NYC is more a less a prison and a dirty one at that.
[..YouTube..] Oopes… You’re right, pavo6503. Thanks for the reality check! Either the person who told me this confused me, or I read this information wrong in the magazine… Again, thank you! :) I’ll look into my info more closely before posting a mistake like that again.

[..YouTube..] 80’s movies rock!, so do 90’s, most 2000+ movies suck compared to most 80’s and 90’s since they have more character and more effort was put into 80’s-90’s films. Kurt Russel’s best movie was Captain Ron! and Unlawful Entry with Ray Liotta.
[..YouTube..] yup… Gerald Butler the guy who played King Leonidies in 300 is playing snake… apparently Kurt Russel (who played Snake in this movie and escape from la) was pissed about the new snake because he thought that Snake was all american and because Butler is not american it inferiated him more

[..YouTube..] It actually is a good film. Well, if you are at all able to appreciate good cinema of all sorts and eras, and able to enjoy a well-made action movie bordering on B without meticulously looking for high art in it, with an open mind.
This trailer kind of reminds me of those old trailers for the original Alien and the first Terminator - they tell you next to nothing about how revered the films actually became.

June 16th, 2008 at 7:24 am
[..YouTube..] You’ll love the movie and the dark 80’s music. And MGS series is the bomb!
