[..YouTube..] This is actually a documentry from 1998 but I went back in time and stopped this version of New York from happening. Don’t thank me, it was the least I could do.
[..YouTube..] Great movie. This is definitely in my top 5 favorites of John Carpenter’s films. My top 5 would be: Halloween, The Thing, The Fog, Escape from New York, and Prince of Darkness….in that order.
[..YouTube..] If they remake this with that dude from 300 or anybody, i just might not see another movie ever again! I heard that they want to remake this and the thing, why WHY!!! Stop remaking Capenter movies!
[..YouTube..] Nice. It’s a good trailer for it’s age, nicely edited and all that, but they kinda missed the key plot point that it’s the US President he’s gotta rescue.
[..YouTube..] Great movie, love the music.I just read somewhere that Jamie Lee Curtis does the narration at the beginning.Never realised but obvious now, duh!!

[..YouTube..] The best poker Coupon Code I´ve found in the last couple of months is definitely NOLUCK for CDPoker com! I got an extra $ 600 for my first deposit! Poker is so much more enjoyable these days, there´s basically no risk!
[..YouTube..] they change the size of the snake? and these were intended to be “B” movies only liked this one the other one was alright. but not as cool it more like a big joke not in a bad way though!
[..YouTube..] if any of you dont like escape from new york or escpae from L.A. then you SUCKseriously those have to be on my top ten list for oldie movies.yeah, rock on kurt russel!
[..YouTube..] I’m checkin’ up wikipedia and I type Cloverfield and from what I read it seems Escape from New York is related or inspired Cloverfield which is interesting. But still this movie is awesome.
[..YouTube..] I must have missed it… I never knew that back in 97, New York was a walled maximum security prison….. wow, where the fuck have i been all these years….. lol, i’m j/k. I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! And escape from L.A., but i liked this one better
[..YouTube..] I think it’s funny when Snake shoots a circle in the wall, then jumps through what is clearly cardboard. Really though, this is one of the first films I remember seeing as a Kid. Great stuff.
[..YouTube..] I remember watching this movie as a kid and thinking it was sooo cool. I thought New York must be some kinda f’n hell hole or somethin, lol . . .
[..YouTube..] Thanks for the comments. EFNY is an awesome sci-fi action thriller and very influential. I think it’s awesome and love the special edition DVD. Keep up the comments and enjoy
[..YouTube..] Bad ass soundtrack and bad ass movie …. never make ‘em like this again and love my 80’s!! Only two years earlier “The Warriors” came out but this was icing on the cake for me!! Thanks!
[..YouTube..] According to a March 12, 2007 article in Variety magazine, Gerard Butler was close to signing a deal where he would play Snake Plissken in a remake of Carpenter’s movie.[4] Neal Moritz was to produce and Ken Nolan was to write the screenplay which would combine an original story for Plissken with the story from the 1981 movie, although Carpenter has hinted that the film might be a prequel.[24]
[..YouTube..] Probably John Carpenter’s best film. One of Kurt Rusesell’s best characters potrayed on the screen. Crapenter’s score to this film is amazing. The sequel has only got on good thing about it: the score. A remake of this film wouldn’t really work. Stop remaking classic films from the 70’s and the 80’s.

[..YouTube..] I just saw this movie and it was really interesting, proberbly one of the best dystopian future movies i’ve seen as well as one of the best anti-heroes i’ve seen on film that is “snake plissken”..acutally i start to wonder if the makers of The Game METAL GEAR copied the character of plissken because there are so many connections between snake plissken and solid snake!
[..YouTube..] -Le président a été enlevé.-Président de quoi?-Je deteste qu’on se foute de moi. This is in the french text, i dont know if this is the same thing in the original dialog
[..YouTube..] Yeah, actually Kojima has already stated a while back that Solid Snake was based off of Snake Plissken(apparently Escape from NY was one of his favorite films or something).
[..YouTube..] This movie’s a classic and was made on a $5 million dollar budget. I heard New Line Cinema wants to do a big budget remake which is completely wrong. Kurt Russell was and is the ultimate Snake Plissken even though L.A. was a bad escape.
[..YouTube..] deff a classic but why not welcome a remake… they will only make asses of themselves so let em have at it… there will only ever be one snake plissken
[..YouTube..] I love this film. it is a true gem.the remake will suck. the thing that sucks the most is that there is a whole generation of kids that will think the remake is the original.
[..YouTube..] Hideo Kojima, created Metal Gear. He saw Escape from NY, and was stunned. He loves it, and used the codename Snake. It is not only Escape from NY who is inspiration for the Metal Gear saga, also Rambo and Bruce Lee movies.

[..YouTube..] of course. He is Snake Plissken afterall. Without him, the Metal Gear saga might not’ve been existed, or would at least been very diffirent.

Like mgsfan91 said, and I quote: “Hideo Kojima (creator of MG) got the inspiration of Metal Gear, thx to this great movie.” I mean, I’ve been with MGS since part 1-3, and the upcoming 4. I’ve always wanted to watched this! I saw half of it on TV once… I wanna see the whole thing!
(Oh. And marcfigu? mgsfan91 is not the only MGS fan here. I love the series. Please give respect to us MGS fans…) Thank you very much. I appriciate it.

[..YouTube..] No, Kojima based Solid Snake on Snake Plisskin, Escape From New York didn’t inspire him to make the MG series. A funny aside, at first I thought it was out of place to see the Twin Towers still standing in the movie but since this takes place in 1997, they would (technically) still be intact. Carpenter is a genius!

[..YouTube..] 1997? ha ha ha Anyway, it’s funny how those 1970s and 1980’s futuristic films are becoming reality in 2008. The American economy on the brink of collapse, people fighting and stealing gasoline and oil. The US running a police state of the world. Though it looks more like a Mad Max world than this movie. But still NYC is more a less a prison and a dirty one at that.
[..YouTube..] Oopes… You’re right, pavo6503. Thanks for the reality check! Either the person who told me this confused me, or I read this information wrong in the magazine… Again, thank you! :) I’ll look into my info more closely before posting a mistake like that again.

[..YouTube..] 80’s movies rock!, so do 90’s, most 2000+ movies suck compared to most 80’s and 90’s since they have more character and more effort was put into 80’s-90’s films. Kurt Russel’s best movie was Captain Ron! and Unlawful Entry with Ray Liotta.
[..YouTube..] yup… Gerald Butler the guy who played King Leonidies in 300 is playing snake… apparently Kurt Russel (who played Snake in this movie and escape from la) was pissed about the new snake because he thought that Snake was all american and because Butler is not american it inferiated him more

[..YouTube..] everytime i see some thing like this that takes place in a year thats alerady happened i laugh because it didnt occur u know what i mean?

[..YouTube..] It actually is a good film. Well, if you are at all able to appreciate good cinema of all sorts and eras, and able to enjoy a well-made action movie bordering on B without meticulously looking for high art in it, with an open mind.
This trailer kind of reminds me of those old trailers for the original Alien and the first Terminator - they tell you next to nothing about how revered the films actually became.

[..YouTube..] Yea Im surprised they didnt Change the name to MEtal Gear or something. He Sounds like Snake, looks like Big Boss and Is Master of CQC, weapons exspert, Demolition.
Tagline: “Call me Snake”

[..YouTube..] That movie never had the intention to be a artsy movie, it’s just purely visualistic and action style, and it’s good how it was done. I love intelligent cinema, but i like a lot movie of that style.

[..YouTube..] this movie reminds me of the warriors and mad max put together. I saw parts of this movie on tv is looked ok maybe if I saw the whole thing I would like it but for now nothing beats mad max and the warriors. HEY WARRIORS COME OUT TO PLAY lol

[..YouTube..] i watched this movie on AMC and i thought it wuz so stupid like they would ever turn the great city of NYC into a prison? so ridiculous NYC is way too important to just be turned into a maximum security prison and i dont think crime would ever get so bad it would rise 400% if people hate my opinion put mi comment as spam idc
[..YouTube..] yep he said “the name is SSn…my name is pliskin” the story is set up so that the player knows that its solid snake in disguise and most of the characters in the game dont know its him
[..YouTube..] This movie should not be remade. I just heard that the studio just brought in Johnathon Mostow to pen a rewrite with an option to direct, & the might bring in Josh Brolin to play Snake Pliskin.
i hope the remake goes down the toilet.
the one movie to see is John Carpenter’s Escape From New York.

[..YouTube..] I hope there must be your hand john.Look that I found on the web.Maybe is a new “the fog movie” maybe it’s a fake, maybe it’s only your joke but It’s so cool.
[..YouTube..] First VHS tape ever rented. Wow, what a ride back then. The beginning of many violent hero/bad guy second chance then done wrong movies to come.
[..YouTube..] Also the first vid that I rented. But the first film I saw on VHS, was Superman 2 back in 1981. Saw it on a massive top-loader JVC machine.
[..YouTube..] We used to have to go to my Uncle’s to watch movies because they had the Betamax, then my dad came home with a VHS. The TV it sat on was the size of an oven, so I didn’t notice the bulkiness. Then we got a new tv and sattelite and that old tv and that stuff sat right on top of the old tv. Nothing can beat coming home from school and seeing those VHS rentals sitting there. We used to go to drive-ins, but this was it we could make our own popcorn and watch at home for cheap. Awesome!

[..YouTube..] ya and when you ask him about it he says that he made up plissken or something like that, cant remember exactly (havent played it in forever)
[..YouTube..] Wel, that sounds interesting. The MAD MAX trilogy is my favorite trilogy of all time. Especially The Road Warrior. Just watched the first two last night. Escape from New York is a good one too. Though I think there is a movie out all ready called “Outland”. I think Sean Connery is in it. I’ve often though of combining the movies “The Road Warrior” and “Dragonheart” (another favorite). I wish you the best with your script writing!

[..YouTube..] hmm yeah kinda. manhattan is a prison and russel has to rescue the president of the usa because his plane chrashed down there. its one of the coolest flicks ever made go see it !

[..YouTube..] lol hostile child you are. And actually, Plisken is the basis for Solid Snake, hence why Solid Snake’s codename in MGS2 was “Iroquis Pliskin” (Iroqois means black snake, referring to Pliskin’s tattoo). Also, similar character traits to big boss.
So errr yah, you’re pretty fuckin’ wrong there.
[..YouTube..] finally someone else who knows this. Thank U, no one fuckin believes me when I tell them who solid snake is based off of cause they never heard of this movie, and yes this has everything to with MGS!

[..YouTube..] Did this or another film have a tag line saying, “Breaking out is impossible, breaking in is insane”
Yeah, I know I can always google. Put it to you chaps.
I still have the poster magazine!
[..YouTube..] Sequel sucked. But I want to view it again to be sure!
At the moment my torrent film viewing is stuck in 1932. I watch year by year and last night it was The Mummy 1932.
Amazing what you learn from old silent movies. Batman started not in comics. But in a film in circa 1925 and 1927. I suggest you all start from scratch!
[..YouTube..] I disagree about the sequel, a little disappointing maybe. But it didnt suck. I agree with you about starting from scratch. Older films are not appreciated nearly enough. I have viewed many on (TCM) turner classic movies. Silent films are fantastic.

[..YouTube..] I wish that was true, but Escape from LA is just painful to watch. Pretty much all the early John Carpenter movies make it into my top 50 of all time, but anything after Prince of Darkness is just horrible. But man, his body of work from Dark Star up to They Live is just pure gold, movie after movie.
[..YouTube..] It’s crazy to note that if the timeline of this movie took place just 4 years later Snake Plissken could have never landed on top of One of the Twin Towers….GOOGLE: New Pearl Harbor and New World Order For The Truth!
[..YouTube..] USA a fascist country I like it !!keep everybody in line !!John Carpenter wrote this film in 1974 man did he see the future or what !!we migh be headed that way !!
[..YouTube..] USA a fascist country I like it !!keep everybody in line !!John Carpenter wrote this film in 1974 man did he see the future or what !!we migh be headed that way !!
[..YouTube..] Only if the diabolical George W. Bush could have been elected for 3rd term would America become like in this movie, since he cared only about the rich and the corporations.
But now America has a president who cares only about the best interests of society. Now we live in a age of light!
[..YouTube..] lol. Just imagine Bill Clinton declared Manhattan as the new Guantanamo Prison.
At least the WTC would have survived. Osama would have crushed the Golden Gate Bridge instead.

[..YouTube..] Are you kidding? Have you ever been to NY City? Cameras everywhere. Police can search you without a warrant. Police break the law constantly just to give someone a ticket. Any anti-government protest ends with police killing civilians. It’s a prison where people have no rights.

[..YouTube..] this is one of my favorite movies ever, and “Escape From L.A”, when I heard they were going to make another as an “origins” type or recreate the first. I was like “noooooooooooooo” and Gerald Butler will be playing as Snake Plissken. and if you dont know who that is, its the actor who played King Leonidis in “300″.
even Kurt Russel was disappointed, he was like “Gerald Butler?!, hes not even American”
regardless who plays it and who directs it, the original will always be Legendary.
[..YouTube..] Kurt Russell took on the Woodland Critters of Imaginationland… Tom Cruise hid in Stan Marsh’s closet like a bitch because the Church of Scientology didn’t like his movies.
[..YouTube..] I really don’t get of how this movie is rated R? There’s no boobs, strong violence, or language? Movie’s awesome but Mpaa is confusing me?
[..YouTube..] I knew it! This is the very vid that metal gear was based!! the original metal gear on family com was created on 1987 after this movie, so thats why he is called snake…!!!
[..YouTube..] Oh yeah, there isn’t even room for comparison. Kurt’s a total bad-ass. Thomasina is just a fake nancy boy who doesn’t deserve to have Katie Holmes as his beard!
[..YouTube..] The R rating, as with the 18 rating in Britain, makes no sense at all. The classification is far too widespread for it to have any real purpose other than attracting the attention of people who are legally too young to watch it in the first place.
[..YouTube..] GREAT MOVIE. And did you hear about the REMAKE?? It better be good! That means, hardcore, good action, no hollywood bullshit, and NO RAP keep the metal alive with action.
[..YouTube..] I love this movie. Remake? Bad idea IMO. I’d much rather see an Escape from New York video game! It worked for Scarface and Ghostbusters. If done right, it could be a great experience. Im sure Russel would be happy to jump back in and supply his voice to one of his most badass roles ever.
[..YouTube..] Just saw Escape from L.A. yesterday. Immediately afterwards, I bought both EfNY and EfLA off the internet.
@KillerAMan99: Ummm…he was, actually. You didn’t know that? Solid Snake’s name does come from Snake Plissken, as does Solid Snake’s disguise in Metal Gear Solid 2…Iroquois Plisken. So yeah, Solid Snake was inspired by Snake Plissken. Kojima even said so, I believe, not that it isn’t obvious already.
[..YouTube..] classic,Kurt rusell kicked some serious ass as snake,R.I.P. Isaac hayes n donald pleaseance, plus the sequel’s awesome,I’m glad JC directed both of them.
[..YouTube..] i love this movie i think this is a great classic movie but i don`t get with some people been complaining about it and ask to make a remake of this movie come on leave it alone.why don`t make a prequal or another sequal about old snake plissken in action
[..YouTube..] The movie itself is a classic, but the trailers I’ve seen are terrible. It’s plain to see that the art of movie trailer production has come a long way.
[..YouTube..] I love this and Escape from L.A. too. I wish they would make another one. I love the character Snake and the political commentaries in both films. Not that far fetched when you think about it.
[..YouTube..] hes inspired like that game he did thats like body snatchers/bladerunner hes like everyone else he does what i do i take a little piece of somethin and add it to my idea then make it something completely different so it can stand on its own
[..YouTube..] “Plisken… what are you doing?!?”
“Playing with myself… I’m going in”.
This movie is a classic. Just watched it and is still good. The remake will probably suck. We’ll see…
[..YouTube..] ESCAPE FROM L.A. was better then this one, in my oppinion,,, i think its dumb to remake this movie tho, they should just do another sequel and bring back kurt as snake ,

December 18th, 2007 at 12:07 am
[..YouTube..] Or how about: The Return to Cleveland… Well, I like the concept, but it doesn’t sound like so snappy a title once I’ve written it down
December 18th, 2007 at 3:22 pm
[..YouTube..] Nice. It’s a good trailer for it’s age, nicely edited and all that, but they kinda missed the key plot point that it’s the US President he’s gotta rescue.

February 24th, 2008 at 9:45 am

March 22nd, 2008 at 10:09 pm
[..YouTube..] I love this movie.
March 25th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
[..YouTube..] This movie’s a classic and was made on a $5 million dollar budget. I heard New Line Cinema wants to do a big budget remake which is completely wrong. Kurt Russell was and is the ultimate Snake Plissken even though L.A. was a bad escape.
March 30th, 2008 at 7:25 pm

June 16th, 2008 at 7:24 am

[..YouTube..] 80’s movies rock!, so do 90’s, most 2000+ movies suck compared to most 80’s and 90’s since they have more character and more effort was put into 80’s-90’s films. Kurt Russel’s best movie was Captain Ron! and Unlawful Entry with Ray Liotta.

This trailer kind of reminds me of those old trailers for the original Alien and the first Terminator - they tell you next to nothing about how revered the films actually became.

Escape From New York By way of The Road Warrior.
Were calling it Outland. It follow the same outline Of Escape From new York & the chase scenes will be A Homage to The Road warrior.
Mr. Carpenter & Mr. Miller we love Escape From New York & The Road Warrior Very Much. Any ways we want to do a Sci-Fi Action film.
It would nice if you can give me your blessing on the project. Also if you can help me that would be great.

Awesome!

So errr yah, you’re pretty fuckin’ wrong there.

March 29th, 2009 at 12:28 am
[..YouTube..] lol seems like a grindhouse trailer
March 29th, 2009 at 9:16 am

[..YouTube..] Only if the diabolical George W. Bush could have been elected for 3rd term would America become like in this movie, since he cared only about the rich and the corporations.
But now America has a president who cares only about the best interests of society. Now we live in a age of light!

May 19th, 2009 at 12:04 pm
[..YouTube..] interesting. the explosive charge in the neck concept reused again in MI3 with tom cruise.

May 23rd, 2009 at 3:03 am

[..YouTube..] Yes, I have been to New York City. Although, I’m white, so my experience may differ from yours.
The point I was trying to make with my comment was about old movies that were about the future, *not* about New York.

May 31st, 2009 at 11:30 pm
[..YouTube..] this is one of my favorite movies ever, and “Escape From L.A”, when I heard they were going to make another as an “origins” type or recreate the first. I was like “noooooooooooooo” and Gerald Butler will be playing as Snake Plissken. and if you dont know who that is, its the actor who played King Leonidis in “300″.
even Kurt Russel was disappointed, he was like “Gerald Butler?!, hes not even American”
regardless who plays it and who directs it, the original will always be Legendary.
June 3rd, 2009 at 9:43 pm
[..YouTube..] you´ve soo right!

Tom Cruise isn’t a pimple on Kurt Russell’s ass.

[..YouTube..] The R rating, as with the 18 rating in Britain, makes no sense at all. The classification is far too widespread for it to have any real purpose other than attracting the attention of people who are legally too young to watch it in the first place.

[..YouTube..] I don’t give a fuck about your war, or your president

July 25th, 2009 at 6:14 am
[..YouTube..] GREAT MOVIE. And did you hear about the REMAKE?? It better be good! That means, hardcore, good action, no hollywood bullshit, and NO RAP keep the metal alive with action.
July 29th, 2009 at 2:12 am
[..YouTube..] They don’t make them like this anymore. Trailers today are so cookie-cutter, you’d think they were all made by the same person.
July 31st, 2009 at 9:01 am
[..YouTube..] I love this movie. Remake? Bad idea IMO. I’d much rather see an Escape from New York video game! It worked for Scarface and Ghostbusters. If done right, it could be a great experience. Im sure Russel would be happy to jump back in and supply his voice to one of his most badass roles ever.
July 31st, 2009 at 7:19 pm

August 4th, 2009 at 4:29 am
[..YouTube..] Just saw Escape from L.A. yesterday. Immediately afterwards, I bought both EfNY and EfLA off the internet.
@KillerAMan99: Ummm…he was, actually. You didn’t know that? Solid Snake’s name does come from Snake Plissken, as does Solid Snake’s disguise in Metal Gear Solid 2…Iroquois Plisken. So yeah, Solid Snake was inspired by Snake Plissken. Kojima even said so, I believe, not that it isn’t obvious already.
August 14th, 2009 at 3:25 am
[..YouTube..] Now, ain’t that the truth.

[..YouTube..] lol, america is not far from being like this
October 4th, 2009 at 7:39 am
[..YouTube..] The movie itself is a classic, but the trailers I’ve seen are terrible. It’s plain to see that the art of movie trailer production has come a long way.
October 4th, 2009 at 2:34 pm

October 11th, 2009 at 6:46 am
[..YouTube..] I love this and Escape from L.A. too. I wish they would make another one. I love the character Snake and the political commentaries in both films. Not that far fetched when you think about it.
October 15th, 2009 at 2:21 am
[..YouTube..] lol no Naked snake. or Big Boss. see the eye patch?
October 15th, 2009 at 8:00 pm
